GAF Energy has been named the world’s “largest producer of solar roofing,” according to both the company and a recently published article from Electrek.
GAF’s Timberline Solar Energy Shingle, which was designed to replace traditional solar panels or heavy tiles typically used for solar roofing, was released in January 2022.
As reported by MSN, GAF Energy built a 450,000-square-foot factory in Georgetown, Texas that is anticipated to hire upwards of 240 employees and raise the production of its solar shingles to 300 MW annually, making the company the largest producer of solar roofing.
The closest competitor to GAF Energy is Tesla’s solar roof. However, its pricier product is about double the cost of the Timberline solar shingle.
