Avangrid Debuts Texas Solar Farm

Avangrid has launched its first solar farm in Texas called ‘True North’ — it is the largest solar project in the company’s portfolio.

The company installed over 488,000 solar panels at the 321 MW solar farm in Falls County, Texas. It is currently being commissioned and will have a dedicated O&M facility onsite.

True North’s construction, which includes $30 million worth of solar trackers from Array Technologies, has created 350 local jobs and will continue to support permanent, high-paying jobs in the community.

True North is part of Avangrid’s $22 billion investment that has been planned between 2022 and 2025. The clean energy project adds to the 1,250 MW of installed wind capacity the company currently owns in the state.

According to Electrek, Avangrid has entered into a long-term PPA with Meta for 100% of the clean energy the solar farm generates.
