Meta has expanded its clean energy relationship with customer-focused renewable energy company Zelestra, a move that will kick start the construction of four new solar projects in Texas.
The projects will be located in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties.
They will have a total capacity of 720 MWdc and be facilitated through four new Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPAs). These four latest projects are in addition to six existing EAPAs totaling 800 MWac.
Once complete, the upcoming projects will provide electricity to the ERCOT grid, with the renewable energy supporting Meta’s datacenter operations.
“We are pleased to triple the size of our partnership with Meta, demonstrating that we share the same commitment to accelerate decarbonization. The agreement is a major boost to our wider ambition of doubling our total contracted renewables portfolio across the US in the next two years,” said Phillip North, CEO of Zelestra US, in a statement.
To date, the total agreements signed enable Zelestra to build more than 1 GWdc of projects nationwide. The company currently has nearly 6.6 GWdc of renewables projects under development in several states.
