Meghan Nutting

Executive Vice President – Policy and Communications, Sunnova Energy Corporation
Meghan Nutting is the Executive Vice President of Policy and Communications at Sunnova Energy Corporation, a leading U.S. residential solar and storage services provider. In this role, she works closely with company and industry leaders, nonprofits, state and federal policymakers, and regulators to craft and implement policies that provide a more stable and sustainable business environment for solar electricity generation.

Prior to working at Sunnova, she served as the Director of Policy and Electricity Markets at SolarCity for nearly five years. She has also worked as a Legislative Director for New York State Assembly member Linda Rosenthal and as a Press Secretary for former U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe. Meghan has held policy positions at the World Bank and the British Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs as well as a number of environmental organizations. In these positions, Meghan has worked on, advocated for, and impacted a significant number of energy and environment-related issues and policies. She has been named one of the #Solar100 thought leaders in the U.S. and one of the Denver Business Journal’s top women in energy for 2018. She was also a candidate for the Colorado House of Representatives in 2017-18.

Meghan received her BA in Biology from Cornell University and her MPA from Princeton University.

William Giese

Southeast Regional Director, SEIA
Will is the Southeast Regional Director at SEIA, managing and supporting SEIA’s policy and advocacy efforts in Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

Prior to SEIA, Will served as the Executive Director for the Hawaii Solar Energy Association where his work focused on policy analysis, creation, and advocacy of clean energy policy through the use of rooftop solar PV, solar hot water, energy storage, and energy efficient devices. He has experience in utility policy, solar PV and solar thermal energy systems design, natural gas policy and regulation, environmental public policy, rate design, and distributed energy system policy. Prior to his work in Hawaii, Mr. Giese was a solar PV designer, policy analyst, and EMT in the Madison, Wisconsin area where he worked on both ambulances and emergency rooms that served the southern region of Wisconsin.

Will holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Public Policy and Sustainable Development from the University of Tennessee – Knoxville and a Master’s degree at the University of Hawaii – Manoa in Public Administration where he graduated with honors.

In his down time Will enjoys hanging with his wife and dog, hiking, horseback riding, stand-up paddleboarding, and is working on his private glider pilot’s license.

Clarice Schafer

Utility Division Supervisor, Hawaii Public Utilities Commission

Clarice Schafer is the Supervising Utility Analyst at the Hawai‘i Public Utilities Commission (“Hawaii PUC”). Over the past five years, Clarice has conducted policy and data analyses in several major PUC proceedings related to Distributed Energy Resource Policies, Integrated Grid Planning, Performance Based Regulation, rate cases, and contracts between the utility and third party independent power producers for renewable dispatchable generation. Clarice earned a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Hawai‘i and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Hawai‘i Pacific University.
