Here’s the updated description for Texas’s session, “ADER Pilot Program and Virtual Power Plants (VPPs)”
The integration of DERs, like solar panels paired with home battery storage, is crucial for improving grid reliability and reducing energy costs in Texas. Co-located resources enable homeowners to generate and store their own energy, easing strain on the grid, especially during peak demand or extreme weather. The ADER Task Force plays a vital role in removing barriers to DER adoption. By collaborating with utilities, regulators, and consumers, the task force aims to simplify policies around grid interconnection and market access, making it easier for Texans to adopt distributed energy solutions.
In this session, attendees will learn about the progress ADER Task Force has made, including its expansion to facilitate broader, more diverse participation — particularly with customers who are on the larger end of the <1MW scale.
Matt Boms, Executive Director of the Texas Advanced Energy Business Alliance will serve as moderator. Panelists include from Joel Yu, VP of Policy at Enchanted Rock and Vice Chair of ADER Task Force, Jason Ryan, Executive VP of Regulatory Services and Government Affairs at CenterPoint Energy and Chair of ADER Task Force, Tori Villarreal, Head of Public Policy and Government Affairs at Base Power, and Octopus Energy’s CEO, Michael Lee.
